👯‍♀️ Keep In Touch:

Welcome to the Calligraphy Biz Corner podcast. I'm your host, Shiao Chan. Do you notice anything different? I hope you said new cover art because I am so excited to give the podcast a new look and feel as the solo host. The heart of the show hasn't changed, I just wanted to infuse some more fun and playfulness into this podcast and the artwork because ultimately, I really want this show to make business feel lighter and easier for you. I want building the business that you dream of feel accessible and achievable, And I want you to know that you're doing it with a whole community of calligraphers and creatives behind you, learning through our highs and lows together and tuning into this show right now with you and with me. If we haven't met yet, I'm Shiao Chan. I'm a business coach for calligraphers. When I learned Chinese calligraphy as a child, I never imagined that calligraphy would change my life and become my career one day. I didn't find calligraphy again until I took an English calligraphy class in 2018, and less than a year later, I quit my toxic tech job to start my business, Monstera Gold, with very little calligraphy experience under my belt. By year two, I had created a six-figure business as a wedding and live event calligrapher and been published in local, national, and international publications like Style Me Pretty and Cosmo Bride And in the process of building my own business, I realized that my ultimate passion really lies in helping other calligraphers build their businesses, and I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of calligraphers to start and grow their businesses through my courses and my coaching programs, which you can find over at calligraphyceo.com. My mission is to empower you, not only to thrive as an artist, but also be confident as an entrepreneur. I believe that building up a community of business savvy creatives only leads to more opportunities for us all. I'm a mom to two boys, three and a half and almost 11 months old, and a dog mom to my rescue border collie mix who's almost 10 years old. I started my business when I was not yet married, I didn't have children, and I was navigating a new business in the pandemic. As you can imagine, life has changed a lot, and the best part is that my business has changed along with it. And ultimately, that's really what this podcast and my coaching is all about, helping you build a business that you love that fits into whatever season of life you're in right now. There really isn't one right way to build a business, and in fact, I believe that how you run your business needs to be ever evolving to support your happiness and wellbeing. So what's in store for you on this show is a mix of business strategy, mindset chats, calligrapher stories, expert guests. So many good things are in store, and I've actually got another episode ready for you to binge right now. But before we head there, I have a physical treat for you, um, one that you can eat or drink. If you're listening to this on your morning commute, or maybe you need an afternoon pick-me-up, I bought a Starbucks gift card for my listeners.
